DESCRIPTION

Background

The MUJ-PRIA Hub is established under Knowledge for Change [K4C] initiative. K4C is a global initiative aimed at building capacities of the next generation of researchers in community Based Participatory Research (CBPR). The Hub focuses on skill development which is in line with Quality Education [SDG 4].

Objectives of the Hub

  • To develop an understanding of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary learning of CBPR.
  • To make students learn and understand the importance of co-creation of knowledge.
  •  To build partnerships of mutual respect with academic stakeholders for collaborative research.
  • To be able to disseminate CBPR methods to a variety of audiences to facilitate quality education.

MENTORS

Dr. Madhura is an Architect Planner. Over the last two and a half decades, she is associated with the Administration, Academics & Research. She is the Founder Head of all Design and Planning programs and currently Director, School of Architecture and Design, Manipal University Jaipur. She was instrumental in framing the curriculum of all the programmes of the faculty of design and initiated an Outcome-based approach in teaching. She is actively involved as an expert in UPSC, AICTE, CoA and DST Rajasthan. She is UNESCO certified mentor in Community Based participatory research (CBPR). She has delivered keynote addresses on Sustainable Architecture & Planning, Design of SMART villages, Sustainable Rural Development, Sustainable materials etc., in various Universities and Government Organizations. She has also contributed as a team leader to prepare City Development Plans for towns, Heritage Conservation of Forts, and Slum Rehabilitation Projects in Maharashtra. She has several publications in international conferences and journals and is currently guiding PhD Scholars on sustainability as a broader theme. She was a supervisor for students of master’s in the landscape for the DST biodiversity Fellowship. She is responsible for strategic plans and policies as per the vision and mission of the university. She is Hub coordinator for community-based participatory research and handling various responsibilities at the university level. She has also contributed to ‘Inclusive Urban Planning’ in the World Report on Higher Education published by GUNI, Barcelona. She is the recipient of Asia Pacific Global Award 2017, Distinguished Faculty in Architecture Award 2017, Global Outreach Education Award for Excellence in Teacher in Architecture 2018, Best Presentation Award, Vancouver, Canada,2018, Education Leadership Award 2019.

Dr. Ajay Kumar: Professor in Department of Mechatronics Engineering at School of Automobile, Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering, Manipal University Jaipur. He is also working as in-charge Academic Section of Manipal University Jaipur. His area of interest lies in Nano Electronics, Control Systems and Microwave Engineering.

Ms. Minali Banerjee: A UNESCO Certified mentor of Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and a growing Economist and Academician. She is Assistant Professor in Department of Economics, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Manipal University Jaipur. Being an avid participatory researcher, her current area of interest lies in engaged teaching-learning pedagogy, engaged research, community engagement and its institutionalization among Indian Higher education institutions.

Dr. Anshuman Karol, Lead – Local Governance, PRIA, has 13 years of work experience on panchayati raj, decentralised planning, devolution, capacity building & training, monitoring & evaluation and policy advocacy. He extensively worked around social science research in agriculture and allied sectors. Currently he is engaged in initiatives on citizen participation, Water & Sanitation and decentralised planning.
