A UNESCO Chair is typically: ‘a project and a team at a university or a higher education or research institution that partners with UNESCO to advance knowledge and practice in an area that is a priority for both the institution and UNESCO.’ However, the UNESCO Chair in CBRSRHE is the first UNESCO Chair that was formed through a collaboration between a university and a civil society organization. This partnership creates a platform for diverse knowledge systems to synergize in promoting social good. Established in 2012 and led by Dr. Budd L Hall and Dr. Rajesh Tandon, the Chair is based at the University of Victoria (UVic), Victoria (Canada), and the Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) in New Delhi (India).
